hostanote - Show and Share Your Photos and Text Online!
Blackstone today announced the release of "hostanote" services that enable non-technical individuals to create quick online photo albums or web pages for any occasion. These hostanotes are built and uploaded to the Internet with the online, easy to use hostanote Builder.
"Putting photo albums online or linking many forms of media (such as classified ads, phone directories, business flyers, display ads, e-mails, posters and brochures, etc.) to rich online media, is a simple yet common sense solution whose time has come." said Blackstone President, Ray Murphy. In essence, Blackstone provides the service and hosts all the hostanote albums and web pages for free, thanks to sponsors. Those building, publishing or viewing hostanotes can do it all at no cost. For example, people who are trying to sell an item can link a hostanote Web Page (with pictures and descriptive text) to their classified ad in the newspaper.
Blackstone provides:
- The online hostanote Builder, to create onlne hostanote photo albums and web pages complete with digital pictures, titles and descriptive text.
- A turnkey online system for sponsors to see (and manage) hostanotes published under their sponsorship.
- The Internet hosting of all hostanotes.
- An environment for members to see and manage all their published (and draft) hostanotes.
- A web site where anyone can enter hostanote IDs to view hostanotes online (or learn more about "hostanote").
With the proliferation of digital cameras, taking pictures has never been easier. The reach and frequency of existing media is well established. It's the unique use of the Internet through a specialized online service to build and publish quick photo albums and web pages that pulls it all together, providing value for all parties.
Letting people have control over the pictures and text in their hostanotes allows them maximum flexibility. There is no burden on sponsors and people looking at hostanotes have much richer information to view - making this an all-around win.
"We are excited to be able to offer a solution designed to show photos and link traditional (and modern) media to richer information. It's built on our years of development in the education and information delivery space." said Mr. Murphy. "Together traditional media and hostanotes make a very effective means of advertising, announcing or promoting. Yet we see this as only the first step in a series of hostanote service updates that will help those communicate information easier and better than ever.

Blackstone positions NEW viaMedia for consultants.
Blackstone today announced the release of viaMedia 2.0, designed to increase revenue for small to medium size consulting firms.
Blackstone's flagship product viaMedia 2.0, has been redesigned and built on the .NET framework. viaMedia is a hosted application intended to give non technical users the ability to publish interactive material to the Internet, including the ability to incorporate questions with optional evaluation. Obvious applications would include tests, surveys, and training materials. In addition to the new functionality, design and underlying technology, the product is specifically aimed at helping consultants make money.
While many organizations have a need to circulate information via the Web to a specific group of users, being able to confirm this information is actually understood by those users poses new challenges. viaMedia addresses this need without requiring the consultant to be technical or provide the entire associated infrastructure.
"It's critical to support a Consultant's existing business model; it's all about using technology to bring increased value - not turn consultant into resellers", said Ray Murphy, President of Blackstone.
Designed to meet IMS specifications means any module created in viaMedia will run in any other player that follows this international standard. "This goes way beyond XML. It's a comprehensive standard that every customer will insist on to ensure that whatever modules they create will be compatible with other and future systems".
A separate Authoring tool allows a consultant to maintain control of the process while using existing resources to build content. Although the product is designed to help in specific phases of an engagement, not all consulting firms stay involved during all the phases.
Providing value across the spectrum, Blackstone positioned the new viaMedia in four unique ways.
- Data collection - surveys and assessments, a great opportunity to take an automated process phase and turn it into a renewable revenue stream.
- Implementation - viaMedia's framework is designed to bring significant value in the rollout of new solutions or managing the change process. The ability to reuse existing content, and combine them with new pages a trivial exercise. Unlike technology that requires high technical competency, viamedia is a "One click, drag and drop experience".
- No IT infrastructure is required - Blackstone provides a hosted environment. Since the core market is small to medium size consulting firms, offering a complete turnkey IT service allows consultants to bid and deliver project with online resource requirements - previously out of their reach.
- A revised pricing strategy aimed to support consulting engagements, with monthly licensing options that span multiple companies provide the ultimate in flexibility. Blackstone's goal is to have consultants make money on their first project and every engagement thereafter.
"We are exited to be able to offer solutions specifically designed for consulting professionals. It's always fun helping people drive revenue, in addition to just saving money" said Mr. Murphy.
